Young adults

I am against the long and difficult process of emancipation for teens. Becoming an adult at a young age is very difficult. When teens decide to become emancipated, it is because they are having problems at home or they don’t have a guardian who is responsible for them. If a teen is trying to become emancipated, then the long process of becoming independent will create conflicts.

According to “A Teenagers Guide To Emancipation,” ”going to court to be emancipated may be very hurtful to your parents” (CTLawHelp). If both the child and the parent are having problems and the teen wants to get out, the parent might refuse to cooperate with the emancipation process.

Teens have to seriously think about their choices, because emancipation is not a game and will come with many responsibilities. For example, some responsibilities that an emancipated teen will have are medical decisions, housing bills, self-needs, transportation and finding a job. A long process towards an emancipation petition is unhelpful for teens because they are underage and don’t have rights to do what an adult can do.
