DESERT AIRE — With the help of K9 Edo, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office caught two of three teenagers who took a motor vehicle without permission in Desert Aire and fled from authorities.

Deputy Tyson Voss and his partner Edo were parked near the Desert Aire fire station around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday when they saw the vehicle carrying three teenagers run a stop sign, according to a press release. Voss drove after the vehicle, which took off at speeds reaching over 50 miles per hour before eventually running through a cable barrier and into a field near Airport Way and Wren Loop.

The three suspects fled on foot after the vehicle was grounded on a soil mound and were warned by Voss that he would send Edo after them if they did not stop. When they continued to run, Edo chased after and caught two of them. The suspects, one boy and one girl, both 13 years old, were taken into custody and treated by EMTs for wounds inflicted by Edo before being released to their parents.

The driver, a second 13-year-old boy, was identified by the two teenagers caught by Edo. The vehicle had been taken by the son of the registered owner, and as such the suspects face possible charges including taking a motor vehicle without permission. The driver may face charges of attempt to elude, according to law enforcement.

Law enforcement is continuing to investigate the incident.
