For a second year in a row, Royal City will be undertaking significant improvements of its city roads with a sizable grant from the Washington Transportation Improvement Board.

Shortly after the dust has settled on the brand new pavement of Camelia St., one of the town’s largest roads, the city has received a grant to conduct similar improvements on Poplar St. NE, a road about half the size of Camelia.

The Washington TIB has allotted almost $140,000 of funds for major improvements along the 800 ft. stretch of road, which will take place in the coming year. Funds from the TIB grants come from the state’s fuel tax revenue.

Final construction approval is scheduled for May, 2019, and the bidding process is expected to finish by June 2019. Construction of the road will last through the end of the year.
