Accident west of Othello leaves 1 dead

OTHELLO — A late Monday accident west of Othello left one man dead, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Diaz Interiano, 19, of Okanogan, was driving west on SR 26 in his 2006 blue Ford Taurus when he wandered into the eastbound lane and hit a 2017 Volvo semitractor-trailer head on driven by 25-year-old Theodore Collado Cisneros of Othello, a state patrol statement issued Tuesday read.

According to the state patrol, the the Ford “crossed the centerline,” struck the semi and then came to a rest on the westbound shoulder of SR 16 about 14 miles west of Othello.

Interiano was pronounced dead at the scene and his next of kin have been notified, the state patrol statement said, while Cisneros was transported to Othello Community Hospital.

Both vehicles were reported totaled and were towed from the scene.
