Wrestling roundup: ML's Riley Burgess 3rd at Inland Empire Invite
SPOKANE VALLEY — Riley Burgess shook off a loss in the second round to finish third at the Inland Empire Invitational.
Burgess was pinned by Ryan Clark of Mead before rattling off six wins in a row to podium. Burgess culminated his run with a 4-1 win against Nathaniel Tovar of Pasco.
Moses Lake had five placers in all and finished eighth as a team with 123.5 points. Chiawana totaled 201 points to take the team title handily over Tonasket (173) and Mead (164.5).
Hunter White (126) and Levi Carlos (170) both finished fourth.
Carlos had a similar run to Burgess as he was pinned by Jose Elijah Tover of Pasco in his first match. After receiving a bye, Carlos strung together five straight wins to reach the third/fourth-place match where he was pinned by Colville’s Trevor Morrison.
Maximus Zamora (132) and Cruz Vasquez (160) both were fifth.

Warden 3rd at Connell Invite
CONNELL — Warden had one champion and four wrestlers place second at the Connell Invitational, taking third overall with 112 points.
Lake Roosevelt ran away with first, amassing 205 points, and Chelan was a distant second at 137.
Roly Martinez defeated teammate Cael Cox in the 113-pound finals, 12-5. Cason Cox (106), Cael Cox, Rodrigo Ozuna (145) and Elijah Gonsalez (182) took second place.
Ozuna was pinned by Kaleb Horn of Lake Roosevelt in his finals match and Gonsalez was pinned by Skyler Gordon of Chelan in the 182-pound championship bout.
