Karen M. Whitney-Deleon

Karen M. Whitney-Deleon was called home by the Lord on Wednesday morning Aug. 22, 2018, during her two-month illness at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Wash. Karen was 55 years old. She leaves behind her loving husband of 10 years Benny Deleon, her mother Violet Whitney, her brother Ed and her cousin Dixie Flores (aka Sis) who helped care for her several months prior to her death. She is preceded in death by her father Clyde Whitney and numerous aunts and uncles.

Karen went to Warden schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. She attended Big Bend Community College (BBCC) where received an AA degree in Early Childhood Education and then taught at Head Start for 15 years. She taught Sunday School at the Warden Community Church for 10 years and also helped in the nursery.

She has a very large extended family consisting of the Deleons, Whitneys and Hicks. She was loved by everyone and never met a stranger she didn’t like. Karen touched many lives and she will be missed dearly.

Her rescue dog Honey Bun will surely miss her too.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Diabetes Association in the name of Karen Whitney-Deleon.

Her visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018 at Stevens Funeral Chapel in Othello, located at 511 S. Seventh Ave., Othello, Wash. from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Services will be held on Friday, Aug. 31, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Warden Community Church located at 201 W. Third in Warden, Wash. Viewing there will begin at 10 a.m.

Graveside committal services will held immediately following at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Warden, Wash.
