A carjacker caused a collision at the intersection of Broadway and Alder Wednesday evening, just as commuters were starting their trips home from work, according to the Moses Lake Police Department.

The female suspect allegedly forced a 69-year-old woman out of her blue Honda in the 500 block of North Clark Road before driving away at high speed, said Sgt. Brian Jones of the Moses Lake Police Department. Police do not believe the suspect was armed at the time but have not ruled out the possibility.

The suspect hit another truck on the corner of North Central Drive and West Loop Drive, and, according to Moses Lake resident Stacey Perry, narrowly avoided hitting Perry’s vehicle, where she had her two children at the time.

“If I hadn’t stopped, she would have run square on where the baby sits,” Perry said, referring to her 18-month-old.

The suspect then made her way toward the Alder Street Fill. The suspect drove the stolen vehicle south along Stratford Road until she rear-ended a black Honda at the intersection of East Broadway Avenue.

Both the suspect and the driver of the black Honda were taken to Samaritan hospital, said Jones. The victim of the carjacking was injured but did not need to be hospitalized.
