Quincy man crashes in DOT truck on Snoqualmie Pass

SNOQUALMIE PASS — A Quincy man was cited over the weekend after he reportedly crashed into a state Department of Transportation (DOT) truck on Snoqualmie Pass Sunday evening.

The Washington State Patrol says the 2013 Ford F-450 DOT truck was conducting traffic control for a previous collision on eastbound Interstate 90, on Snoqualmie Pass, blocking one of the three lanes. Traffic cones were reportedly set up behind the DOT truck to alert eastbound I-90 drivers.

Jesus Romero Bailon, 21, of Quincy, was reportedly driving a 2003 Honda Accord east on I-90 and lost control of his vehicle. The Honda struck the DOT truck, spun and came to a rest blocking two of the three eastbound I-90 lanes. Romero Bailon was not injured. His passenger, Annabelle Avila Hernandez, 20, of Wenatchee, was injured but refused medical treatment. The DOT truck was unoccupied at the time of the collision. The Honda was totaled, while the DOT truck sustained reportable damages and was towed from the scene.

The patrol reports Romero Bailon was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
