Warden Community Days Labor Day weekend
WARDEN — A parade and volleyball, breakfast and fun in the park are on tap for the annual Community Days celebration Sept. 3 in Warden. The Community Days Fun Run is planned for Sept. 1.
The fun run is scheduled for 10 a.m., with the starting line at Warden Elementary School, 101 Beck Way. The course has one-mile or five-kilometer options. The fun run is sponsored by PAWS, the district’s parent-teacher association; the proceeds go to PAWS activities.
Online registration is open until Aug. 29, with same-day registration opening at 9 a.m. Registration is $15, with a $2.50 online registration fee. Registration forms are available at Warden City Hall, 121 South Main St., or the Warden School District office, 101 Beck Way.
Labor Day events start at 6 a.m. with the annual pancake breakfast, sponsored by the Warden Fire Department. The annual parade is at 11 a.m., said organizer Kendra McMurrian, led by Gordy and Annie Edwards, longtime Warden residents and 2018 grand marshals.
Parade applications are available at the Warden Community Center, 115 North Oak Ave.
It’s tradition for the crowd to get together in the park after the parade, where there are games, vendors and the annual Lions Club barbecue.
There will be a bouncy house, McMurrian said, a horseshoe tournament, a volleyball tournament, and a deejay, among other activities.
