Sarah Marie Steffler

| August 22, 2018 11:12 AM

Sarah Marie Steffler, 33, of Moses Lake, Wash., died in a tragic car accident along with her beloved daughter, Ella, on Aug. 17, 2018 near Madras, Ore.

Sarah was born on April 3, 1985 to Lana Redal and Rusty Steffler in Moses Lake. Sarah was raised here in Moses Lake, along with her big brother Glenn and her little brother Nathaniel. Sarah breezed through elementary school at Longview and Knolls Vista, then Chief Moses and Moses Lake High School. Sarah had a passion for reading that began early and continued throughout her life. At high school, she was a standout athlete playing varsity softball all four years, earning many honors along the way.

After high school, Sarah worked a few different jobs mainly dealing cards, making lifelong friends wherever she stopped. She decided to spread her wings a bit and moved to the Tri-Cities. There she began work at another casino where she met, Maverick. They built a relationship and in 2011, welcomed their beautiful daughter, Ella, into their lives. From then on, their worlds revolved around little Ella. Sarah and Ella moved back to Moses Lake, in part to help out Sarah’s mom. It was then that Sarah began working at Sporty’s. Sarah’s smile and exuberant personality brightened the day of every person with whom she came in contact. These guests and co-workers became so much more, they became lifelong friends.

In 2016, Sarah and Ella journeyed out together to explore some of the western United States. During these travels, Sarah found work as a flagger for Union Pacific and most recently B&B flagging. She was a dedicated, hardworking, energetic and loyal employee. She loved this job, it allowed Ella and her to travel throughout Oregon enjoying camping, hiking, swimming, rafting and the serenity of the outdoors.

Sarah was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend to all. However, she was known for being incredibly irreverent, usually at her own expense. This characteristic allowed more laughter and joy for all who shared life with her.

Sarah is survived by her mother, Lana Redal Devney, and her husband, Patrick Devney. Her big brother, Glenn Steffler and his wife, Shamra Steffler. Her little brother, Nathaniel Steffler and his fiancé, Callee. Her grandmother, Ella Redal, nephews Jack, Emmett, Jace and her beautiful niece Charlotte. Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins survive Sarah as well as her Laotion family. She is preceded in death by her father, Rusty Philip Steffler, her paternal grandparents, Don and Linda Steffler, and her maternal grandfather, Jerry Redal.

Services will be held Friday Aug. 24, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1020 South A St., Moses Lake, WA 98837. In honor of Sarah please feel free to dress casual or dress fancy to honor little Ella. Two bright lights burnt out far too soon.
