Public invited to tour Heritage Center

| August 22, 2018 12:00 PM

As the 2018 season wraps up for the Othello Community Museum, the board of directors is planning a special trip. The public is invited to take part as members of the museum take a tour of the Wanapum Heritage Center.

The event takes place this Friday (Aug. 24). Admission is free.

The group will meet at the museum, located at Third and Larch, at 1:30 p.m. From there, they will carpool to the center. The center is on the Columbia River near Mattawa, so it will take about one hour to get there.

The museum board is making a point to visit different museums in the area to learn. Earlier this summer, they took a tour of the Connell Heritage Museum to see the newly remodeled facility and the new annex recently built there.

To wrap up the summer, the museum will host an open house from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22. All are encouraged to attend.

During the open house, a special program for children ages 9 to 13 will be set up. Children will learn about writing journals as a means of recording history. The free event will be at 2 p.m.

After Sept. 22, the museum will be closed for the winter. It is scheduled to reopen Saturday, June 15, 2019.
