Ella Inthawa Muongmany

Ella Inthawa Muongmany was born in Kennewick, Wash. on Oct. 5, 2011 to Sarah Marie Steffler and Maverick Lubie Muongmany. Ella died tragically in a motor vehicle accident near Madrras, Ore. on Aug. 17, 2018 along with her beloved mother, Sarah Marie Steffler.

Ella lived her first two years in Kennewick. Ella and her parents spent most of their time with her paternal grandparents Pond and Simone Muongmany, learning and cherishing her Lao heritage. In January of 2014 Ella moved back to Moses Lake with her mom. Ella started kindergarten in Drain, Ore. Ella spent much time traveling with her mom experiencing a lot of the west coast. Such a short life but was still able to see and experience so much. Their love of family is what brought them home where Ella began kindergarten and found love for learning, she had a special love for Mrs. Allsbrook. Having her nana teach in the same school gave her a sense of ownership and she quickly became a favorite amongst staff and classmates. Ella flourished rapidly in school and school became a highlight in her life.

Ella’s passions included dancing, and swimming. She also possessed a self-confidence that defied her few years. She owned any room that she entered and seemed way more mature than the rest of us sometimes. Anyone that knew Ella one of the first thing that comes to mind is her fashion. No matter the occasion, if it was playing with her cousins in the dirt she would still show up in a dress and high heels. Playing with her cousins could provide an issue for Ella. “I don’t get dirty Uncle Glenn,” No occasion was too small to dress up, complete with high heels, jewelry and hair ornaments.

She was a vibrant, intelligent and beautiful, but mostly she loved her family, often commenting of how lucky she was to have such a large family who loves her. A lot of her family included those who were not related by blood. She was loved by all who met her. She could not wait to dance and participate in the Lao New year with her dad, grandparents and the entire Laotian community of the Tri Cities.

Ella is survived by her father Maverick, her brother Malek, her paternal grandparents, Pond and Symone Muongmany, but known as mamma and papa. Uncle Anthony and Aunt Ashley Muongmany, grandmother Lana Devney (Nana) and Patrick Devney. She is also survived by her Uncle Glenn and Aunt Shamra, Uncle Nathaniel and Aunt Callee. Her great grandmother, Ella Redal and Cousins Jack, Emmett, Charlotte and Jace. Survivors also include too many extended family to name and people who became family through love. Ella was proceeded in death by her grandfather, Rusty Steffler. Ella Bella Boo will live on in all our broken hearts. A beautiful life gone way too soon.

Services will be held on Friday Aug. 24, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. located at 1020 S A St. in Moses Lake, Wash. Please come casually dressed to honor Ella’s mother, or dress fancy like Ella loved.
