MOSES LAKE — A charge was filed against a Moses Lake man who led police on a high-speed chase and barricaded himself inside a home in the Larson community on Friday.

Grant County prosecutors charged Robert Gwinn, 38, in Grant County Superior Court with attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle.

About 10:15 a.m. on Friday the Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a suspicious person in the 4400 block of Road L Northeast. The reporting party advised she had a protection order to serve to the subject, Gwinn, and he was there to drop off their daughter. She also claimed Gwinn, who had warrants out for his arrest, had a gun and when deputies arrived at the scene they spotted a vehicle driven by Gwinn pulling out of the driveway, according to court documents.

Deputies attempted to pull Gwinn over but he refused and a pursuit was initiated. Gwinn fled at speeds above the marked speed limits and he was able to maneuver around a set of spike strips that were set up at Road 4 Northeast and Road K Northeast. Gwinn made his way into the city of Moses Lake and turned onto West Valley Road, where he reached speeds of 80 mph in a 30 mph zone. Gwinn eventually turned onto Airway Drive, drove past the Grant County Fairgrounds and turned left on state Route 17, where he reached speeds in excess of 110 mph.
