Malfunctioning RV sparks blaze near Ephrata

| August 18, 2018 2:57 PM

EPHRATA - A malfunctioning RV is reported to be the cause of a fire on Friday that destroyed boats, motorhomes and camping trailer.

When firefighters with Grant County Fire District No. 13 responded to the fire in the 10000 block of Road A Northwest, southeast of Ephrata, about 10:20 a.m. they encountered two boats, two motorhomes and a camping trailer on fire.

GCFD No. 13 says the blaze, which started as a result of an RV malfunction, posed a threat to other nearby vehicles and at least one residence, which were all in close proximity to one another. GCFD No. 13, with mutual aid provided by the Ephrata Fire Department and Grant County Fire District No. 5, extinguished the flames with only about an acre of wildland burned. There was no reported injuries.
