Magically entertaining: Magician Kevin Wolfe wows at Grant County Fair
MOSES LAKE — If Kevin Wolfe's magic show came with a disclaimer it would more than likely tell audiences to give their everything to avoid blinking.
“I just want to know how in the world he did the trick where he made the table float. I was looking at it and I didn't see anything to explain that,” 13-year-old Devin Jones said with a serious look on his face. “I always thought these were things they did on TV and with a crew and stuff like that.”
Wolfe's show can lead audiences to wonder what is real and what is an illusion. Those blurred lines are exactly what the magician/hypnotist strives for, all the while giving audience members something to talk about, ponder over and discuss after the show is over.
“I always wanted to be a magician because it looks like so much fun and you get to meet a lot of people and they like what you are doing so you can make friends. I always try to go and see all of the magicians at the fair every year, but this is the first time I ever saw this guy,” 9-year-old Danica Roberts remarked.
From classic sleight-of-hand illusions and card tricks, to hypnosis, comedy and audience participation, Wolfe's routine is family friendly and engaging due to his performing style. Some magicians are staunch in their stance that a magician never reveals his or her secrets. Not Wolfe. Throughout his show Wolfe provides brief how-tos for some of his tricks, while other tricks are better left to be interpreted by audience members.
“I gotta learn how to do that one where he makes the salt appear out of nowhere. That one was my favorite and I wanna show my friends it when I go back to school next month,” explained Marc, Devin Jones' brother.
