| August 15, 2018 3:00 AM

LAKEVIEW — Firefighters were able to contain and extinguish a small brush fire in the Lakeview community near Soap Lake on Tuesday before the blaze damaged nearby structures.

The wildfire broke out about 1:45 p.m. in a field off of Division Road Northwest, behind the Gas & Go gas station and near state Route 28. Firefighters with Grant County Fire District No. 7 were at the scene quickly and contained the fire to about 6 acres in size, according to GCFD No. 7 Chief Kirk Sheppard.

There were no reported injuries or structures damaged/destroyed. Sheppard said the cause of the fire is under investigation. He added that there is a walking path that cuts through the field and is used fairly regularly.
