Judith Tramayne resigns from Soap Lake council

SOAP LAKE — Soap Lake city councilmember Judith Tramayne resigned from her post on the council last month due to health problems.

Soap Lake Mayor Raymond Gravelle confirmed to the Columbia Basin Herald on Thursday Tramayne submitted her letter of resignation in early July. Tramayne, a United States Air Force veteran and former IRS revenue officer, started serving on the Soap Lake council in 2016 after defeating incumbent Keith Hagglund in the November 2015 general election.

Gravelle said the city is accepting letters of interest from residents who wish to fill the vacant spot, which is Position No. 6 on the council. Letters can be dropped off at Soap Lake City Hall, 239 2nd Ave. SE, Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. People are encouraged to use the drop located in the parking lot at city hall when city hall is closed. Letters can also be emailed to karenh@soaplakewa.gov or sladmin@smwireless.net.

The plan is for the council to interview applicants during the Aug. 15 council meeting and make their decision during the meeting.

“I would like the council to select a person. We want them there so that they (the council) can interview them if they have any questions beyond their submittal letters,” Gravelle told the Herald.

Tramayne could not be reached for comment.
