Wind, heat make wildfire near Ephrata harder to fight

| August 9, 2018 8:47 PM

EPHRATA — Firefighters from Grant County Fire Districts 3 and 13 teamed up to battle a wildfire that broke out northwest of Ephrata Thursday afternoon. The firefighters were joined by the Bureau of Land Management, the Department of Forestry and neighboring farmers. Two SEAT (single engine air tanker) planes and a helicopter had been deployed to the scene as wind and high temperatures made their job more difficult.

The fire, which had reached 250 acres as of about 8 p.m. Thursday, was located in the vicinity of Overen Road and Road L Northwest. The number of personnel at the scene and the percentage of containment were not available at press time.
