Former student of Manweller says students were treated respectfully

| August 2, 2018 3:00 AM

During my freshman year of college, I was fortunate enough to take a general education course from Matt Manweller, a man who is currently running for State Representative.

Professor Manweller’s class was filled with discussions that encouraged us to evaluate the information that we received, and he made a pointed effort to give unbiased information. He could have used his position as his own personal soapbox, as some professors do, but instead, encouraged us to assess both sides of an argument, and form our own opinions.

Professor Manweller moderated discussion that, though often passionate, was respectful. Students were treated with respect, and equality, regardless of whether we shared his beliefs, both inside and outside of the classroom.

Professor Manweller challenged us to think beyond ourselves, about what was best for the greater good, and to think about the long-term repercussions of what might seem like benign choices.

There are no simple answers to the issues politicians must address, but with his understanding of both the short term and long term effects of legislation, I have no doubts that Matt Manweller will continue to be an excellent representative of District 13.
