Warden farmer announces run for PUD commission

WARDEN — Lifelong Warden resident and farmer Nelson Cox is running for a seat on the Grant County Public Utility District commission.

Cox is challenging incumbent Bob Bernd, who is currently nearing the end of his third four-year term as the commission’s second at-large representative.

“I maybe think a little different,” Cox said. “I don’t think (the commissioners) are representing the people of Grant County.”

In seeking to sit on the PUD commission, Cox said he wants to remind Grant County residents that they, in fact, own the Public Utility District, and that he is committed to ensuring affordable power for all Grant County residents.

Cox has been a farmer in Warden for nearly 50 years, and served as a commissioner on the Washington Potato Commission and the United States Potato Board, including two years on the U.S. board’s executive committee.
