Shirley Mae Hartwig, 84, of Richland, Wash. went to be with the Lord on April 13th, 2018, at the Chaplaincy Hospice House surrounded by her family. She was born to David and Mary Greenwald on January 30th, 1934 on a small farm in southeast Wyoming.

Shirley spent much of her childhood on Table Mountain herding sheep, cows, and playing with her brother, Harold, and four sisters, Irma, Darlene, Valena, and Marge. On May 13th, 1952, she married Robert and spent over 65 years with the love of her life. Shirley and Robert started their farming career in Lyman, Nebraska where they were members of the Evangelical Reform Church. They continued their farming after moving to Othello, Washington along with childhood friends from Nebraska, who they remain close with to this day.

In July of 2013, Shirley and Robert retired from farming and relocated to the Tri-Cities. Together they raised two daughters, Deanne and Susan. Shirley was very creative and artistic, enjoyed singing, painting, traveling with family and friends, golfing, gardening, baking German food, and writing poetry. She loved all kinds of flowers, birds, animals, and making floral arrangements. Shirley was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Othello for over 30 years.

Shirley leaves behind her loving husband Bob; daughters Deanne Gardner (Wayne), Susan Allard (Mark); 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family meant the world to her and she was the world to her family. We miss and love you!

Family invites you to a Memorial Service at Sunset Gardens Event Center, 915 Bypass Hwy, Richland, Wash. on Saturday, April 21, 2018.
