April 22, 1974 – March 31, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Keven Wayne Dobson announces his passing on March 31, 2018 at the age of 43. Keven passed away in the home he shared with his fiancée, Jennifer, in Long Creek, Ore.

Keven was born April 22, 1974 to Patrice Eileen Hoag Dobson and Roy Keven Dobson, in Memphis, Tenn. He spent his early childhood in San Diego and Laguna Nigel, Calif. with his mother. In 1987, Rob Weber married Patrice and he became Keven’s father. The family eventually moved to La Grande, Ore. where Keven graduated from La Grande High School in 1992.

Keven lived in Moses Lake, Wash. for over 15 years and enjoyed many friendships there. Keven attended the Law Enforcement Reserve Academy in 1996. He served in the Moses Lake Police Department as a reserve officer from 1996 to 1998. Keven then attended the Washington State Basic Law Enforcement Academy and graduated at the top of his class in 2000. He served the City of Ephrata as a police officer from 1998 to 2008, and the Grant County Sheriff’s Office from 2008 to 2011. Keven was extremely proud of his service and during his years in law enforcement acted as a firearms instructor and field training officer. He also served on the Grant County Inter-Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team. Keven’s friends and coworkers remember him as a talented and competent professional. He is also fondly remembered for his sense of humor and tendency to play pranks. Keven said that law enforcement was all he ever wanted to do and being the best in his chosen career was always his goal.

Keven spent his last few years working alongside his father and brother Reed at their restaurant in Kennewick Wash. Keven enjoyed spending time in the outdoors with shooting sports, archery, camping, fly fishing and scuba diving. Keven was a loving father and a loyal friend. He could always be relied on for help when needed.

Keven is now reunited with his mother Patrice who preceded him in death. He is greatly missed and will always be remembered by his beloved daughter Hanna Rae Dobson, father Rob Weber, brothers Reed Weber and Brentt Dobson, sister Kalee Weber and stepsister Kellie Turner, fiancée Jennifer Garinger and her children and grandchildren and many, many extended family and friends.

Friends and family are invited to come celebrate and remember Keven on April 22, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Moses Lake Baptist Church located at 4334 Joann Dr. NE. After the service an informal wake-style gathering will be held at Michael’s on the Lake. Internment will occur at a later date on the family ranch where Keven will rest with his mother.

It was Keven’s fondest wish to help pay for his daughter’s upcoming wedding. The family has decided to work together to honor that wish. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to Hanna’s wedding fund can be made. For contact information contact Theresa Sheets at the Grant County Sheriff’s Office at 509-770-0461.

Special thanks to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office and Moses Lake Police Department for providing the Honor Guard for Keven’s memorial. Special thanks also to Theresa Sheets, Heidi Howell, Brian and Diana Jones, and Chaplain Dennis Fountain for your help in arranging the memorial.
