Tickets have gone on sale for the Othello Beautification Committee’s annual fundraising event “Banners and Blooms.” which is scheduled for Friday, May 4.

Proceeds from the event will go toward the Othello Main Street Lighting and Beautification Project that includes putting in more pedestrian lights, banners, Christmas lights and flowers in pots on Main Street.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. at the Othello Senior Center. The evening will include live and silent auctions, featuring many garden oriented auction items, heavy Hors d’oeuvres and a chocolate extravaganza table. Wine will be served throughout the evening in a garden like setting.

A main feature of the live auction will be an opportunity to purchase a ticket to attend “Summer Fun at the Nygard Lodge” July 21, hosted by Dan Nygard at his beautiful lodge just west of Othello. The event will include an afternoon of outdoor and indoor activities such as kayaking or canoeing on the lake, viewing buffalo, a horseshoe competition, volleyball or badminton and more.

Hors d’ oeuvres and wine will be served at 5 p.m., and dinner at 6:00. Dan is cooking tri-tip, chicken and salmon if available. The fun will end when the last person goes home. Presale tickets for “Summer Fun at the Nygard Lodge” are $100 per ticket and will also be available at the auction.

Tickets for the “Banners and Blooms” are available at the Senior Center, Tuesday through Friday and from OBC board members at $20 per ticket.

The Othello Beautification Committee also recently received a surprise gift of $10,000 from Dean Kisler, a former Othello resident. Dean attended “Banners and Blooms” last year and liked what the Beautification Committee is doing to improve the appearance of the City. He expressed his appreciation by generously donating and has asked the company he works for, Johnson and Johnson, to donate as well. Othello Beautification Committee can’t thank Dean enough for his generous contribution.
