Re-instate Dr. Randel Bunch
I, (Cynde Rea), had the pleasure of attending a CBHA Board of Directors meeting recently. I had written a letter to them and I do not know if it was shared among them. I will share some of that with you now.
The recent forced resignation of Dr. Randy Bunch has rocked this community to its core. I don’t know if this was a unilateral decision by the CEO or if the Board was involved. Either way, the decision has hurt Othello and the surrounding communities, and shredded the reputation of the CBHA organization, which was hanging by a thread already.
Did you ever think that this decision has not only affected Dr. Bunch but also the multitude of patients he treated? There seems to be lack of concern for the medical needs of this community. It seems odd that you let a good doctor go when CBHA has trouble attracting and retaining MDs and DOs. Have you asked yourselves why?
The Board did answer this question stating that there is a shortage of doctors, and that it’s hard to get them to come to a rural community. When you recruit from all over, why did you not offer Kassie Spohr MD, hometown girl, a position within the CBHA organization? She was head resident during her residency and did part of her internship in Othello. She would have been an awesome asset to your organization and to our community.
Dr. Richard Bunch brought modern medicine with integrity to our little town and has served this area for over 60 years. He was instrumental in pioneering the PA program and brought many good family physicians and specialists into his clinic. His son, Randy, followed in his father’s footsteps, and has been a real asset to this community. There appears to be a real disconnect between calling CBHA a medical clinic, and providing medical service?
Please do this community a service and re-instate Dr. Randel Bunch employment.
