Quincy comeback bid falls short against Cashmere

QUINCY — Quincy dug itself out of a 5-1 hole but ultimately lost its non-league game to Cashmere 9-8.

The Jacks were out-hit 17-4. However, the Bulldogs committed nine errors, which allowed Quincy to keep the game close.

Cashmere led 5-1 after two innings before Quincy responded with a four-run third. Both teams proceeded to trade runs throughout the rest of the game before Cashmere scored the clincher in the top of the seventh inning.

Quincy starter Nick Gonzalez threw five innings, striking out five.

Kross Knoll had the hot bat for Cashmere, totaling four hits and three RBI. Garrett Tarver drove in two runs for the Bulldogs.
