Man arrested for drugs after found passed out in car
MOSES LAKE — A Moses Lake man is in jail after police reportedly recovered numerous drugs in a vehicle he was found passed out in early Monday morning.
About 1 a.m. Monday morning the Moses Lake Police Department responded to an apartment complex on East Ninth Avenue after receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. Police were advised two people were “passed out” in the car, according to Capt. Mike Williams.
Police arrived at the scene and found Travis Smith, 28, of Moses Lake, in the driver’s seat of the car with drug paraphernalia reportedly in his hand. An unidentified female was reportedly in the passenger seat with a syringe next to her.
“Officers were able to take several pictures of the paraphernalia from outside the vehicle without waking the sleepy suspects. After finally waking the suspects, which wasn’t an easy task, officers applied for and received a search warrant for the vehicle,” Williams said.
Police reportedly located a safe containing heroin, methamphetamine and 95 narcotic prescription pills. In addition, police located cocaine, Suboxone and drug paraphernalia in the car. In total, police recovered about 10 grams of heroin, 1.8 grams of meth and less than a gram of cocaine.
Smith was arrested for possession of heroin, possession of meth, possession of cocaine, possession of scheduled narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is currently lodged in the Grant County Jail.
