Ephrata girls soccer to hold fundraiser for Jayda Harmon
EPHRATA — The Harmons have been a fixture in the Ephrata girls soccer program for many years.
Hillary Coomes coached Erika Harmon her senior year as well as her daughter Jayda Harmon more recently. So it was a big blow when Jayda Harmon was diagnosed with cancer in the spring.
“We really felt it hit close to home,” Coomes said.
Jayda Harmon began her fight in May, but Tigers soccer wants to issue a reminder that there is still work to be done. There will be a fundraiser at Saturday’s home game against Grandview.
Any donation amount is acceptable.
“Trying to let her know we’re still here,” Coomes said. “We’re still thinking about her.”
Jayda Harmon was a tenacious defender for the Tigers and was set to play college soccer at Walla Walla next year.
“She had a lot of drive,” Coomes said. “Strong work ethic. Very tough player.”
Saturday’s game against Grandview begins at noon.
