Lillian 'Mae' Johnson

February 8, 1934 – October 24, 2017

Lillian “Mae” Johnson, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017 at her home surrounded by family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Mae was born on Feb. 8, 1934 in Bradley, Mo. to Herschel and Tessie Knight. She is the eldest of four brothers and four sisters. She graduated in 1952 in Sunnyside, Wash. She married Troy Johnson in Selah, Wash. on Aug. 8, 1952. She is survived by her loving husband Troy Johnson and their three sons; Randy (Arna), Jeff (Connie) and Jim who all live on the same 35 acres in Moses Lake, as well as four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mae knew no strangers as she journeyed through this life. Her arms were always open to help family and others.

Her pride and joy were her three sons. She was a stay-at-home mom to the boys until they were in school. Then she started driving the Mae Valley motor route for the Columbia Basin Herald. She drove for the Herald for over 40 years. While driving the route she took on the role of confidant for her many customers. She kept tabs on her customers and enjoyed getting to know them. Mae had a tremendous heart and it wasn’t unusual for her to stop by, take groceries to someone in need or just lend a listening ear.

Troy and Mae ministered the Church of God in Moses Lake for over 19 years. She held many positions including church secretary, fundraiser coordinator where she baked many pies, youth director, Sunday School teacher and custodian. Being a minister’s wife was her true passion.

Mae had a green thumb and enjoyed her many flowers that were always blooming and decorating her house and others. They enjoyed camping at the Chiwawa River and Tumwater Campground in the Wenatchee National Forest area with family along with the other sightseeing trips.

Graveside service will be held on Monday, Oct. 30, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Pioneer Memorial Gardens, 14403 Rd. 2 NE, Moses Lake, Wash., officiated by Art Brown Light of Larson Ministry.
