Speaking up could save a life
A note to my friends, for whom I would do anything. Following my recovery from what some have termed “Mild Cognitive Impairment,” when I began to regain my balance and ability to navigate my way again, it occurred to me to just ask, ”Did any of you know I was having difficulty managing my affairs and navigating my way through life? And if you did know, why did nobody say anything to me?” So I asked my best friend if he knew. He said, “Yes I knew, but I didn’t want to hurt your feelings is why I never wanted to say anything.”
I do understand. My bigger question and wonder is, “How much sooner would I have recovered if I had recognized what was occurring just as my friends were recognizing what was happening?”
My personal plea – I hope I am speaking for anyone who may be beginning to suffer from this dreadful disease – is ”Please share with us what you see. “ It may save our life.
