Prep roundup: Ephrata nails down No. 3 district seed

PROSSER — Mya Spencer scored twice and Ephrata beat Prosser 4-1.

The win sealed the No. 3 seed to the CWAC district tournament for the Tigers.

Sydnee Pixlee assisted Spencer’s first goal in the eighth minute. Spencer scored again unassisted to put Ephrata ahead 2-0 at halftime.

Heidi Massey and Courtney Richardson added one goal apiece in the second half.

Toppenish 3, Othello 2 (OT)

OTHELLO — Jazlyhn Verduzco had two goals, but Othello fell to Toppenish 3-2 in overtime.

The Wildcats tied the game late in regulation and scored the game-winner with 30 seconds left in the first overtime.

Wapato 3, Quincy 1

WAPATO — Wapato pulled away with two goals in the second half to beat Quincy 3-1.

Bekah Castro scored the Jacks’ lone goal.

OTHELLO — Othello was swept by Prosser 25-20, 25-17, 25-18.

Mykiah Hollenbeck and Alyssa Hawley had five kills each. Clarissa Martinez added 12 digs.

Colfax 3, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 0

COLFAX — Peyton Curtis and Rachel Schell had four kills each, but Colfax beat Lind-Ritzville/Sprague in three sets 25-15, 25-9, 25-7.

Lacey Miller added 15 assists and Ellie Gering had seven digs.

Soap Lake 3, Oroville 1

SOAP LAKE — Soap Lake outlasted Oroville in four sets 18-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-16.

Tracie Delgado led the Eagles with 24 assists, four aces and 14 digs. Taylor Harvill recorded a team-high 12 kills and Makenna Johnson had nine kills.

Cross country

Quincy boys, girls take second at CWAC meet

COWICHE — Selah dominated its CWAC meet against Quincy and East Valley.

The Vikings won the boys’ competition totaled 15 points and the girls had 21. The Quincy boys finished second with 63 points and the girls finished second with 56.

Selah’s Daniel Callahan won the boys’ race in 16 minutes, 10 seconds. The Vikings finished first through seventh.

Quincy’s Gonzalo Birrueta took eighth in 17:10.

Selah’s Molly Mattson won the girls’ race in 18 minutes, 43 seconds. Quincy’s Bryn Heikes took third in 19 minutes, 24 seconds.
