Road Brother food drive coming Nov. 11
MOSES LAKE - The event may still be a couple of weeks out, but members of the Road Brother Motorcycle Club - Moses Lake chapter are gearing up for their annual food drive and want this year’s drive to be the biggest and best to-date.
The club has been holding their annual food drive in Moses Lake for five years now, with the event annually generating large food and monetary donations. Club members will be in the Ross parking lot in Moses Lake, 911 N. Stratford Rd., from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 11 collecting donations, according to club member David Mullenix.
All of the donated food goes directly to the Moses Lake Food Bank, while all of the money goes to sponsoring local families for the holidays.
“For instance, last year we sponsored nine families. We are hoping to do a lot year this year,” Mullenix said. “What we do is we sponsor them for Thanksgiving. So we do the full Thanksgiving dinner for their whole family, all the trimmings. We bring them everything. And then we also sponsor their children for Christmas, so we buy their children Christmas presents as well.”
Mullenix said the first year the drive was held the turnout was outstanding, but the next couple of years were “lackluster.”
“Last year was awesome. Last year we had a really good year.”
Organizers are hoping for an even bigger turnout this year and are getting the word out ahead of time to generate awareness for an event that has benefited countless people in Moses Lake and abroad over the years.
