Kneeling at the National Anthem not disrespectful

| October 19, 2017 1:00 AM

Let’s talk the truth today about why football players kneel during the National Anthem. Nobody is disrespecting soldiers nor the U.S. military. Most of the players who are kneeling have family and friends serving in the military. These guys are kneeling for fairness in the law for all men, and they’re kneeling for equity and justice for all.

Now, it’s corrupt to change the conversation and say that people are disrespecting the military, when that’s an unproven fact. In Job Corps I used to wake the guys up every morning to say the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. One morning a guy told me he didn’t believe in saying the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. I didn’t get mad at him because that was his right, and I didn’t accuse him of being anti-American. I just asked him while the rest of us said the Pledge of Allegiance to step outside.

Now, we all love our soldiers and military, but we shouldn’t use the military name to stop people from protesting equity and justice for all people. We’re a stronger nation and people when we all come together. Donald Trump is attempting to divide us in America.
