Prep roundup: Moses Lake's Carpenter runner-up at CBBN meet

WENATCHEE — Moses Lake’s Camille Carpenter could not quite overtime Eisenhower’s Erica Simison in the second Columbia Basin Big Nine league meet in Wenatchee.

Simison led the Cadets to a total of 35 points and first place, finishing the girls’ race first in 18 minutes, 47.60 seconds. Carpenter was runner-up and clocked in at 19 minutes, 19.32 seconds.

As a team, Moses Lake girls cross country was third with 84 points.

In the boys’ competition, Eisenhower went one, two, three and won easily with 30 points. Jonas Price won the race in 15 minutes, 10.48 seconds. Teammates Alfonso Cuevas and Rogelio Mares finished second and third, respectively.

Moses Lake’s Zachery Owens was fifth in 16:04.04. Joshua Cooper took sixth in 16:32.62.

Moses Lake was fourth in the team standings with 99 points.

Girls soccer

Ephrata 3, Othello 0

OTHELLO — Othello was dealt a blow to its district playoff hopes after losing to Ephrata 3-0.

The Huskies must win their final game against Toppenish and hope East Valley loses its next two.

Grandview 6, Quincy 0

GRANDVIEW — Grandview pelted Quincy for 23 shots on goal and won 6-0.

Crystal Jacobo and Anabell Pallares each scored twice.

Volleyball

Soap Lake 3, Waterville 2

WATERVILLE — Soap Lake outlasted Waterville in five sets 20-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-21, 15-11.

Tracie Delgado totaled 26 assists and 32 digs. Taylor Harvill and Eryn Allen added 10 and nine kills, respectively.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 3, Columbia 0

COULEE CITY — Almira/Coulee-Hartline cruised past Columbia 25-5, 25-4, 25-5.

Ashley Mitchell led the Warriors with 10 service aces and nine kills. Makenna Oliver had 19 assists.

Quincy 3, Wapato 1

WAPATO — Quincy overcame losing the first set to beat Wapato in four 22-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-6.

Morgan Kleyn recorded a team-high 10 kills. Rosey Combs had seven kills and 12 digs. Bella Gallegos totaled 21 assists.

Othello 3, Toppenish 0

TOPPENISH — Othello swept Toppenish 25-15, 25-22, 28-26.

Mykiah Hollenbeck and Alyssa Hawley had three service aces each. Hollenbeck also led the Huskies with eight kills.
