Basin roundup: Moses Lake boys cross country wins Oroville Invite

OROVILLE — Moses Lake boys cross country put three runners in the top 10 of the Oroville Invite to win the meet with 68 points.

Cashmere was right behind the Chiefs with 71.

Joshua Cooper won the race in 16 minutes, 22 seconds. Teammate Zachery Owens finished third in 16 minutes, 50 seconds.

Brandon Wood took ninth place in 17 minutes, 12 seconds.

Moses Lake finished second in the girls’ competition. The Chief scored 69 points to fall a spot behind Liberty Bell with 45.

Camille Carpenter finished third in 19 minutes, 26 seconds. Carlie Gregg was sixth in 20 minutes, 4 seconds.

Girls soccer

Othello 2, Wapato 0

WAPATO — Emily Mendez assisted on both of Othello’s goals in a 2-0 win over Wapato.

Jazlyhn Verduzco scored in the 10th minute and Gracie Sorenson scored in the 38th.

Othello is two wins out of the final district playoff spot with two games left.

Ephrata 4, East Valley 0

EPHRATA — Bekah Schmuck scored two goals in Ephrata’s 4-0 win over East Valley.

McCall DeChenne opened the scoring in the 24th minute and Schmuck scored her first goal just before halftime.

Schmuck and Kendall Kemp added one goal each in the second half.

Prep volleyball

Soap Lake 3, Manson 0

SOAP LAKE — Tracie Delgado notched 16 digs and Soap Lake beat Manson 25-14, 25-16, 25-18.

Taylor Harvill recorded six kills and Sierra Janikowski had two aces.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 3, Northport 0

COULEE CITY — Almira/Coulee-Hartline improved to 12-0 after a three-set win against Northport 25-16, 25-14, 25-19.

Maddie Murray had 11 kills and Tiffany Boutain had 10 digs.

College volleyball

Treasure Valley 3, Big Bend 0

ONTARIO, Ore. — Big Bend was swept by Treasure Valley 25-23, 25-16, 25-17.

Natalie Yergensen and JoAndra Wilson had three kills each for the Vikings. Laurissa Kisler and Ana Zuniga-Navarro totaled seven digs each.
