Elmo Ray Burgess
February 5, 1943 – October 5, 2017
Elmo Ray Burgess, 74, a resident of Moses Lake since 1976, passed away at home with his beloved wife Barbara by his side Thursday, October 5, 2017.
Ray was born in Lovelock, Nevada on Feb. 5, 1943, son of the late Elmo and Luella (Gould) Burgess. He transferred from Missoula, Mont. to Moses Lake in 1976 to be the meat manager for Buttrey’s Grocery Store. He worked in the meat industry for 42 years.
In some of his spare time he enjoyed going to Tiffany’s Resort with his family and many friends. He enjoyed teaching his family everything about fishing and water skiing. Ray also had such a kind heart for animals, especially cats, even building a kitty condo for them. Ray was an extremely loving husband to his wife, Barbara, of 30 years.
He was a proud father to his son Johnny Burgess and his wife Flor of Moses Lake, his daughter Penny Byers and her husband Rod of Post Falls, his son Kerry Stoltz and his wife Janine of Puyallup, his son Kevin Stoltz of Seattle, and Masako Stoltz of Auburn. He also has two brothers, Ralph and George. “Grandpa Ray” was also a loving grandfather to 15 beautiful grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Ray loved his heavenly father Jehovah and was passionate about sharing the bible hope for the future. He knew the hope for the dead and that all those in the memorial tombs would hear his voice and come out. (John 5:28,29)
