Road projects not expected to cause major delays

MOSES LAKE — There are several different road construction projects scheduled to take place in the Columbia Basin this week. The projects are not major and delays are projected to be minimal.

The first project in our area will take place on the state Route 17/North Stratford Road overpass in Moses Lake. Crews will be replacing sidewalk panels on the overpass until 4:30 p.m. today. Delays are not expected to be significant, but the outside lanes on North Stratford Road are scheduled to be closed, with traffic diverted to the inside lanes.

The second project will impact areas in both Grant and Adams counties, as Central Washington Asphalt crews will be working at two different locations.

The first location will be along state Route 26 in south Grant County to the state Route 243 junction. Crews will be installing “Your Speed” and “Watch for Entering Traffic When Flashing” signs and other signs along the route. In addition, from SR-26 to South Thacker Road in Othello, crews will be installing signs, making permanent sign revisions and doing pavement marking, culvert, fencing and railroad crossing work.

Work on the two projects began Aug. 21 and is expected to end sometime this month. The work runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Traffic delays are projected to be minimal and less than 5 minutes at each project location.

The last project will take place from noon today until 8 a.m. Thursday morning and involves invasive vegetation control at the Vantage overlooks along Interstate 90 on each side of the Vantage Bridge. The overlooks will be closed for the vegetation control. No traffic delays are expected.
