February 8, 1933 – September 20, 2017

Bette Sue Filbrandt of Moses Lake passed away peacefully on Sept. 20, 2017. She was born on Feb. 8, 1933, in eastern Montana, where she attended grade school and later graduated from Medicine Lake High School.

Following high school she moved to Billings, Mont., where she met and married James Henry Filbrandt. They had four children together, Mistee, Bill, Kristee and Scott.

Bette’s high energy and administrative skills eventually landed her a position with the Holiday Inn franchise of John Q. Hammons. With Holiday Inn she transferred from Billings to Sacramento, Calif., and then to the Bay Area of San Francisco. She left Holiday Inn and moved to Moses Lake to care for her mother Zealan Murray.

Bette loved work almost as much as she loved her cats Cory and Britches, dining out for lobster, shopping and playing cards with her friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Tom and Zealan Murray, son Scott and granddaughter Miranda. Surviving family includes daughter and son-in-law Mistee and Dan Kelley; grandson Brian; son and daughter-in-law Bill and Debbie Filbrandt; grandchildren Nathan, Stephan and Erin; daughter and son-in-law Kristee and Gordon Betcher; grandchildren Amanda and Karlee; great-grandchildren Allyson, Aiden and Eden; sister Patricia Scherting; nephews Tom and Tony and nieces Nancy and Suzanne. Surviving close friends include David and Imojean, Ardella, Bonnie, Bette and Barb.

A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Moses Lake on Friday, Oct. 13, 2017 at 11 a.m.
