Prep roundup: Othello girls soccer shuts out Quincy

OTHELLO — Emily Mendez recorded a hat trick and Othello cruised by Quincy 8-0.

Mendez also notched an assist in Othello’s victory.

Giselle Vasquez scored twice as the Huskies out-shot the Jacks 25-2.

Othello earned its first CWAC win and is one game out of the final district playoff spot.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 3, Asotin 2

RITZVILLE — Lind-Ritzville/Sprague outlasted Asotin in five sets 23-25, 25-16, 27-29, 25-19, 15-10.

Lacy Miller led the Broncos with a gaudy 51 assists and four service aces.

Peyton Curtis notched 17 kills and Ellie Gering had 13 digs.

Moses Lake’s Cooper 15th at Leavenworth Invite

LEAVENWORTH — Joshua Cooper led Moses Lake at the Leavenworth Invitational, finishing 15th in 16:05.01.

Quincy took 16th in the team race with 449 points as the top Basin team. Ephrata (465) and Moses Lake (466) finished 19th and 20th, respectively.

Spencer Thurman of Shorecrest won the race in 15 minutes, 24.4 seconds. Bothell totaled 88 points to take first.

Moses Lake finished sixth in the girls’ competition with 181 points.

Camille Carpenter clocked in at 19:11 to finish seventh. Bryn Heikes of Quincy finished ninth in 19:25.

As a team, Ephrata was 14th with 370 points.
