Report of gun at MLHS prompts police response

| October 5, 2017 3:00 AM

MOSES LAKE — A report of a student at Moses Lake High School with a gun was determined to be unfounded Wednesday afternoon.

About 12:35 p.m. the Moses Lake Police Department received a report of a Moses Lake High School student having a gun on campus. Due to the seriousness of the report, a large number of police officers responded to the school and the male student reported to have the gun was found in the school library and detained for questioning.

Police determined the report was based on an “unsubstantiated” suspicion. The MLPD stated no gun was found on the student and his family cooperated with police. School activities were briefly disrupted and the school resumed its normal operations after the investigation was complete.

Students and staff at MLHS were never in danger, according to a police statement.
