Leading the way
MOSES LAKE — Sue Tebow, one of the original co-founders of the Ag Day Parade, has been named this year’s grand marshal.
“Isn’t that something,” Tebow said. “I’ve not done this before.”
The Ag Day Parade, which honors the place of agriculture in Moses Lake and Grant County life, as well as marking the arrival of winter, will make its way through downtown Moses Lake on Friday, Dec. 1, beginning at 7 p.m. as it has been doing since 1995.
Tebow is no stranger to farming in Moses Lake. In addition to starting the Ag Day Parade and helping run a cow-calf operation outside Moses Lake, she also documents farm and rural life with her Facebook page agri.CULTURE, which focuses on the lives of people who work on farms, near farms, or whose lives have been touched in some way by farming.
“I was surprised when they asked, and I’m very honored to be chosen,” Tebow said. “I was a member of the Moses Lake Business Association and a founder of the Ag Parade.”
Tebow, however, will not be riding in a car this year. Or even on a horse.
“I’m going to be riding in a Genie lift. Someone will be driving, and I will be riding in the bucket,” she said.
“I just decided to mix it up a little,” Tebow added.
The street celebration begins at 5 p.m. with music and entertainment in Sinkiuse Square at 5 p.m. According to Michaelle Boetger, executive director of the Moses Lake Business Association, the organization is still accepting parade entries and sponsorships. Anyone who is interested can contact the MLBA at 509-770-1700 for more information.
“I’m excited to be in the parade this year, to ride through it and see all my friends,” Tebow said. “It will be fun.”
