Big Bend men finish 1-2 at Skagit Valley Tournament

MT. VERNON — Big Bend men’s basketball finished 1-2 at the Skagit Valley Tournament.

Big Bend lost its opener to Portland 82-66. The Runnin’ Vikes trailed by 11 points at halftime.

Christopher Hawkins led the Vikes with 18 points. Mauricio Smith added 14 points.

Big Bend rebounded to beat Peninsula 72-69. Point guard Koby Huerta notched 18 points and six assists. Smith, Hawkins and Miles Brown also scored in double figures.

Big Bend lost its tournament finale to host Skagit Valley 74-70. The Runnin’ Vikes led 46-34 at halftime, but only managed 24 second-half points.

Huerta led Big Bend with 21 points.
