NACHES — Rock Foristiere rushed 27 times for 154 yards and two touchdowns, Juan Silva added 156 yards on 18 carries and a score, but their efforts were all for naught as Wahluke dropped a loser out crossover tilt 34-22 to Naches Valley Friday and the Warriors season came to an end.

“Our players left it all on the field,” coach Mike Foristiere said. “But unfortunately it was a night of very poor tackling and not hitting the big pass plays when open on offense.”

The first quarter of action saw goose eggs dot the scoreboard. Touchdown runs by the Rangers Jacob Stohr and Dakota Voss and two Nick Mueller PATs sent Wahluke to the locker room trailing 14-0 at the half.

An 8-yard run by Foristiere (kick failed) to start third quarter scoring closed the gap to 14-6. Naches Valley answered back with another TD run from Voss (kick failed) to make it 20-6 in favor of the home team heading into the final 12 minutes of the contest.

Silva’s 2-yard scamper into the end zone (PAT) got the Warriors with striking distance, 20-13.

Naches Valley gained a bit more breathing room when Sean Coyne connected up with Kobe Kohls on a 47-yard pitch and catch play (PAT) to take a 27-13 lead. Stohr hit pay dirt for the second time, this time from 7-yards out and the Rangers pushed the score to 34-13. Forester’s second rushing touchdown (PAT) got the Warriors within two scores, 34-20, but it was too little too late and Wahluke was sent home with a season ending loss.

“We finished with just 20 passing yards for the game, but our run game produced 394 yards,” Foristiere said. “Our O line – Alfredo Prudente, Brian Smith, Oscar Aguilar, Juan Morales and Pedro Casteneda blocked well for us – in fact, they did a great job of blocking all year for us.”
