Basin roundup: Ephrata football no match for No. 4 West Valley

SPOKANE — Ephrata had no answers for fourth-ranked West Valley and lost its CWAC/GNL crossover 51-12.

Zac Berryman rushed for one touchdown and threw another to Hunter James.

West Valley led 31-6 at halftime.

Collin Sather led the Eagles with two rushing touchdowns.

Quincy 35, Toppenish 19

QUINCY — Quincy closed its season with a 35-19 win over Toppenish.

Kade Schutzmann threw three touchdown passes — two to Tyson Thornton. Thornton caught touchdown passes of 54 and 10 yards.

Warden 36, East Valley 7

YAKIMA — Warden toppled Class 2A East Valley 36-7.

Sophomore quarterback Ryan Arredondo passed for 300 yards and four touchdowns. Kaden Skone and Tito Rodriguez caught a pair of touchdowns each,

“With a very young team the future looks super bright,” head coach Robert Arredondo said.

Naches Valley 34, Wahluke 20

NACHES — Wahluke could not overcome a 14-0 halftime deficit and lost its winner-to-state district crossover game to Naches Valley 34-20.

Rock Foristiere scored a pair of touchdowns

Jacob Stohr and Kodi Voss led the Rangers with two rushing touchdowns each.

Liberty 52, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 6

SPANGLE — Lind-Ritzville/Sprague trailed 32-0 at halftime and lost its District 5/6/7 playoff game to Liberty 52-6.

Austin Thompson got the Broncos on the board with an 11-yard touchdown in the third quarter.

James Heer racked up 267 total yards and five touchdowns for Liberty.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 68, Republic 0

COULEE CITY — Almira/Coulee-Hartline rolled Republic in its crossover game 68-0.

Maguire Isaak passed for two touchdowns and rushed for two more.

Brayton Schafer had 119 yards and a touchdown to lead the Warriors’ ground game.

ACH captures District 7 championship

COLBERT — Almira/Coulee-Hartline swept its way to the District 7 championship.

The Warriors defeated Republic in the semifinals 25-7, 25-13, 25-16 and beat Selkirk in the championship match 25-9, 25-20, 25-12.

Ashley Mitchell had 10 kills, three blocks and two aces in the semifinals. Gabi Isaak totaled nine kills and three aces in the championship.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline finished third at the state tournament last year and will open its 2017 run against Firm Foundation Nov. 9, 9:45 a.m., at the Yakima Valley SunDome.

College volleyball

Wenatchee Valley 3, Big Bend 0

MOSES LAKE — Big Bend ended its season with a three-set loss to Wenatchee Valley 25-22, 25-20, 25-13.

Ryana Recustodio led the Vikings with eight kills. JoAndra Wilson, Madison Powers and Natalie Yergensen had five kills each.

Warden’s Laurissa Kisler ended her sophomore season with a match-high 13 digs.
