Prep roundup: Warden girls soccer falls just shy of state tournament

YAKIMA — For the second consecutive season, Warden girls soccer fell one win shy of a state tournament berth.

Warden dropped its third-place district playoff game to Cle Elum-Roslyn 5-3.

The Cougars took an early 2-0 lead behind goals from Aaliyah Escamilla and Bailey Whitney. Escamilla finished a through ball in the 14th minute and Whitney scored in the 17th.

However, the Warriors closed the first half with three unanswered goals.

Grace Liscano, Grace Jackson and Grace Terrill scored one goal apiece to give Cle Elum a 3-2 halftime advantage.

Jackson scored her second goal five minutes into the second half.

Warden responded in the 61st minute with a goal from Kasandra Rodriguez, but Liscano added her second goal in the 70th minute to end any comeback bid.

Volleyball

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 3, Inchelium 0

Almira/Coulee-Hartline won its district playoff opener over Inchelium 25-22, 25-14, 25-7.

The Warriors improved to 17-0.

Ashley Mitchell led the Warriors with 10 kills and Josie Pierce added 16 aces.
