Miniature art show opens Monday

Courtesy photo Small artworks with subjects of all kinds, from animals to landscapes, in media of all kinds, from oils to inks, will be on display at the Miniature Art Show next week.

MOSES LAKE — Art in miniature will be the subject of a week-long exhibit opening Nov. 6. The reception for the 11th annual Miniature Art Show will be 6:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at Umpqua Bank, 101 E. Fourth Ave. The show is sponsored by the Desert Artists group.

Along with awards for the first three places, there’s a people’s choice award. Cash awards are given to the first three places.

All artworks in the show have one thing in common, that they have a 36-inch maximum perimeter, including the frame. Aside from that, anything goes. Artists have painted in oils and acrylics, painted in watercolor and used ink. They’ve used canvas, pieces of wood, holiday ornaments, even feathers. Artists have painted landscapes, still life, holiday scenes, flowers, animals.
