2 free days at state parks in November

| November 1, 2017 3:00 AM

OLYMPIA — There are two opportunities this month for people to access Washington State Parks free of charge.

The free days will be Nov. 11, Veterans Day, and Nov. 24. On each of the two days visitors will not be required to have a Discover Pass for vehicle access to state parks. The free days were first started in 2011, but this year the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission decided to moved one of its two spring free days to Nov. 24, with the idea of encouraging people to visit state parks in autumn.

A Discover Pass usually costs $30 for access year-round, or $10 for a one-day permit. Discover Pass legislation allows 12 free days each year when the pass is not required to visit a state park.
