Oregon man injured in motorhome crash on I-90

MOSES LAKE — A man from Oregon was seriously injured in a Memorial Day collision on Interstate 90.

Darrell Garrett, 53, of Bend, Ore., was reportedly driving a 1999 Spartan motorhome west on I-90, about four miles east of Moses Lake, on Monday when he swerved to the right shoulder and proceeded to overcorrect.

The motorhome, which was pulling a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee, rolled into the median and reportedly kicked up debris, which struck a Ford F-250 driven by Frank Silva, 57, of Kennewick. The motorhome and Cherokee came to a rest on their tops in the median, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Garrett received serious injuries in the collision and was airlifted to Confluence Health-Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee for treatment. Silva was not injured. The patrol reports the cause of the collision is under investigation and no citations have been issued. Drugs or alcohol are believed to have played a role in the collision.
