MOSES LAKE — Maryah Tipping, a 6-foot-1 post player for Big Bend, signed a national letter of intent to play for Warner Pacific College.

Tipping, from Ogden, Utah, was one of five sophomores on this year’s Big Bend women’s basketball team. Tipping manned the middle, averaging a steady 5.63 points and 5.94 rebounds per game. Her rebounding mark was good for 10th in the NWAC East. Tipping was also efficient near the goal, shooting over 50 percent from the field.

“We are very excited about Maryah choosing Warner Pacific College to continue her playing career,” head coach Preston Wilks said in a statement. “When she visited Warner, she already had several offers to choose from, but after her visit she felt like Warner was the right place.

“(Warner head women’s coach Matt Gregg) played inside during his college career and is looking forward to continue developing Maryah’s game. We believe she will have a successful career at Warner.”

Warner Pacific, located in Portland, Ore., is a member of the NAIA’s Cascade Collegiate Conference. Tipping will look to make an immediate impact on a team that finished 4-26 in 2016-17.

Tipping totaled 311 points, 321 rebounds and 41 blocks in two seasons at Big Bend.
