Arlen Almerond Dean

| May 25, 2017 3:00 AM

April 22, 1937 – May 20, 2017

Our beloved father Arlen Almerond Dean of Moses Lake, Wash. went to be with Jesus, surrounded by several family members and friends on May 20, 2017. He was 80 years old in body but still very young at heart.

Dad was born in Sidney, Mont. on April 22, 1937 to Dale and Ella (Morrill) Dean. He grew up in Montana along with nine siblings. He married Kathy Gibbs in 1956. He and his family later moved to Lignite, N.D. to work on the oil rigs. In approximately 1966, the family moved to Washington state and eventually resided in Moses Lake, where he and Kathy raised their family. At a later date, they parted ways. He relocated to Alaska where he retired before returning to Washington state.

Dad lived with his son, Richard, and enjoyed attending church with him. He also worked side-by-side trying to keep up with Richard in the electrical business. Dad was an avid reader and would be found at the public library on a regular basis. He also enjoyed panning for gold in the great outdoors. However, the thing dearest to his heart was talking – to family, to friends, or… to a stump.

Arlen was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Ella Dean and by two sons, Danny and David Dean. He is survived by one son Richard Dean of Moses Lake, Wash. one daughter Debbie (Greg) Whittemore of Fresno, Calif.; three sisters Darlene (Tony) DellaBovie of Carmel, N.Y., Linda (Floyd) Sullivan of Fairview, Mont. and Carl Dean of Whitefish, Mont.; six brothers Desmond (Gerry) Dean of Vancouver, Wash., Miles Dean and Sandi Billingsly of Anchorage, Alaska, Robert (Lola) Dean of Anchorage, Alaska, Stan (Patsy) Dean of Fairview, Mont., Lorlys (Charlene) Dean of Eureka, Calif., Joseph Dean of Cartwright, N.D.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. May 25, 2016 at the Moses Lake United Methodist Church, reception following. Pastor JoAnn Schaadt will officiate the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate his life. The family would love to hear any stories or anecdotes you would like to share with us about our dad. The family would like to thank the Moses Lake EMTs, Moses Lake Samaritan Hospital, Life Flight and Central Washington Hospital ICU staff for all their efforts, care and dedication.

We would like to extend a heartfelt appreciation to Pioneer Memorial Services and everyone who offered their support and prayers through this difficult time.

Dad, your zeal for life, sense of humor and love of family will be greatly missed.
