Quincy recognizes police sergeant

QUINCY — Quincy honored one of its police officers on Tuesday for a decade of service to the city.
Interim Police Chief William Larson thanked Sgt. Chris Lafferty for 10 years of service on Tuesday, presenting the long-serving officer with a certificate and a pin denoting the time he has served in Quincy.
“He has enriched the lives of others,” Larson said. “Ten years on the job is a decade of public service, 10 years of a challenging profession, of nights and weekends and putting yourself in harm’s way.”
Larson thanked Lafferty for the time he has devoted to the job, and for accepting the risks associated with a career in law enforcement. He also thanked Lafferty’s family for living with those risks, and for all the times Lafferty was working when he might have otherwise been at home.
“For all those nights when he couldn’t be there to tell bedtime stories,” Larson said.
Lafferty thanks both the interim chief and the city council.
“This is a big honor,” he said. “I started my career here, and I plan to end it here too.”
